Minors in Family Studies
The department offers three minors to interested students in related majors. Students desiring a minor are advised to consult with the undergraduate coordinator, Melissa Leavy, as early as possible.
Family Studies Minor
Minor requirements include FS 525, FS 545, and three additional courses in family studies, chosen in consultation with a departmental advisor. Individual course grades must be C or above and the overall grade-point average for the 20 credits must be at least 2.00.
Adolescent and Youth Development
The departments of Family Studies and Recreation Management and Policy offer an interdisciplinary minor in Adolescent and Youth Development. Required courses offer a foundation in theory, research, and practice for all minors. Students interested in this minor must submit an application, be accepted into the minor, and complete the required coursework. Questions about the minor may be directed to Dr. Kristine Baber ( kmbaber@unh.edu ) in FS or Dr. Janet Sable ( jrsable@cisunix.unh.edu ) in RMP.
Students must take two core courses. FS 624 and RMP 668.

Child Life Curriculum
The departments of Family Studies and Recreation Management and Policy offer an interdisciplinary minor in Child Life Curriculum. Family Studies majors who minor in Child Life are required to take three core courses: RMP 502, FS 525 and FS 623. Students must also select two courses from FS 635, FS 641, FS 709, FS 734 and FS 772. In addition, they must select two courses from RMP 501, RMP 503, RMP 504, RMP 603 and RMP 604. Students must participate in an internship under the supervision of a CCLS.
