Outdoor Education Undergraduate Program
So much of what I am able to do now is directly related to my experiences at UNH. (I cannot tell you how many times I've gone back to John Dewey to make a point!) In so many ways, I am who I am because I was lucky enough to have been part of OE. Thank you a million times over for the work you do and for helping me discover more of my potential. The lessons keep coming...

Knowledge
Students in the Outdoor Education program not only develop practical skills; they learn the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of outdoor and experiential education. This is the true advantage of a UNH education—the program is not only "vocational" in the sense that our graduates routinely move on to some of the best jobs in the field, but our focus on deeper foundations and our collaborations with other departments help students develop as critical thinkers and lifelong learners.
Outdoor Education faculty members contribute substantially to the advancement of the field through research, scholarship, and dedicated service. Often, students work alongside them as assistants or as the lead researchers on their own undergraduate research projects. Through this process, students benefit from and contribute to cutting-edge knowledge in the field. Feedback from employers and field leaders confirms our belief that a deeper understanding of outdoor and experiential education gives a clear advantage to our graduates.
