Transfer Students
The nursing department welcomes applications for admission from students who wish to transfer from other degree programs. Students who wish to transfer into nursing from another degree program should submit a transfer application requested through the department of nursing janed@unh.edu. Students enrolled at the Thompson School of Applied Science or Division of Continuing Education associate degree programs at UNH apply through the Office of Admissions. Students who are admitted as a transfer student to nursing from outside UNH Durham then apply as an external transfer through the Office of Admissions.
Application deadlines are March 1 and June 1. Students are admitted for fall semester, nursing sophomore level only. The minimum required GPA for application is 3.2. All nursing pre-requisites must be completed or in process at the time of application and with at least one final grade from Human Anatomy & Physiology. These include: ENGL 401, First-Year Writing; NUTR 400, Nutrition in Health & Well Being; PSYC 401, Introduction to Psychology; ZOOL 507, Human Anatomy & Physiology; and ZOOL 508, Human Anatomy & Physiology.
Two of the following three high school courses must be completed with a grade of C or better: chemistry, biology, physics. If chemistry was not taken in high school or if grade was less than C in high school, the student must successfully complete biochemistry or chemistry with a grade of C or better prior to the first clinical course, NURS 512, Introduction to Nursing Interventions.
