Foundation for Seacoast Health

Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to students who qualify academically, are pursuing a health-related field of study, and have been and continue to be residents for a minimum of two years of one of the nine Seacoast communities in the foundation’s service area (Portsmouth, Newington, New Castle, Greenland, Rye, and North Hampton, NH; Kittery, Eliot, and York, Maine.)

Awards are based primarily on academic achievement and potential as demonstrated by test scores, rank in class or grade-point averages, difficulty of course selection, and commitment to the field of health. Financial need is not a consideration.

Jaastad Educational Loan Fund

Students who can demonstrate financial need can apply for low interest loans. This loan is available to New Hampshire residents.  Contact the Department of Nursing administrative assistant for consideration.

New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization known as a community foundation. Since it was established in 1962, many individual donors have created more than 1,000 permanently endowed funds to support nonprofit organizations and to assist New Hampshire residents with education expenses.

Twenty-one percent of the foundation’s assets are devoted to providing student aid.

Any New Hampshire resident who is at least a half-time student at an accredited educational institution may apply. Graduating high school seniors, undergraduate students, or adult students may apply.

Applications are vailable through NHCF Student Aid, 37 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301-4005, 603 / 225-6641, or www.nhcf.org/.

NH Workforce Incentive Program

The New Hampshire Workforce Incentive program assists those New Hampshire students enrolled in approved nursing programs in the state who demonstrate need and merit. The program is supported by state funds and matching funds provided by the State of New Hampshire. Students are not required to pay back the awards made under this program.

To receive these funds, each full-time or part-time student must sign a promissory note payable to the state treasurer. Notes will be canceled upon completion of one calendar year of either full-time or part-time nursing service.

For more information, contact the chairperson of the nursing department at 603 / 862-2260.

Alice M. Yarnold and Samuel Yarnold Scholarship Trust

The Alice M. Yarnold and Samuel Yarnold Scholarship Trust provides funds for those New Hampshire residents with a desire to pursue post-secondary school education in the fields of nursing, medicine, or social work, but who would otherwise be unable to do so because of financial reasons.

Applications are available through the nursing office of Alice M. Yarnold and Samuel Yarnold Scholarship Trust, 1 Glenwood Avenue, Dover, NH 3820-2456, 603 / 742-1300.
