Recreation Management and Policy Students

Recreation Management and PolicyStudents majoring in Recreation Management and Policy at UNH are a diverse group. Our students come from a variety of places throughout the United States and are key members of the UNH campus community. You can find RMP majors working in the Hamel Recreation Center, playing on the women’s lacrosse team, volunteering with Northeast Passage, leading the Student Committee on Popular Entertainment (SCOPE), serving as the student representative for a professional association, renovating local playgrounds, serving as a personal care attendant for a person with a spinal cord injury, conducting research with faculty, starting on the UNH football team, and serving as president of a sorority. While some RMP undergraduates enter the program directly from high school as UNH Freshman, the vast majority find the major after one or two years of coursework in other academic programs. RMP majors are people-focused and action-oriented. Coursework involves traditional classroom experiences, as well as numerous service and experiential learning opportunities connected to RMP classes.

RMP students at UNH are interested in many different aspects of the recreation and leisure services field, ranging from public parks and recreation, therapeutic recreation, resort management, youth development, commercial recreation, non-profit administration, recreational sport management, event planning, and outdoor recreation resources management.
